Resident and Family Reviews

After a lengthy search, we found an excellent Assisted Living home, the Esther at Riverbend for our mother. The Executive Director, Tonya Hodges' professionalism and exceptional knowledge of the Assisted Living industry made the Esther an easy choice. On arrival, we were immediately welcomed by Tonya's staff and community residents. The grounds are well maintained, and the interior common areas are kept meticulously clean. The staff have a very positive attitude, and provide attentive and compassionate care for our mothers specific needs. Of note, Alena, a care partner, demonstrates daily a friendly, caring, and supportive attitude towards our mother and other members of the Ester residential community. We are very pleased to have our mother at this Assisted Living facility where she is thriving.

The Esther has managed to reduce if not take away the stigma of aging. The Assisted Living complex is often buzzing with activity; It's clear that the residents feel a sense of autonomy & ownership over the many shared spaces. People are often gathered, enjoying good conversation (making connections) serving each other at the coffee bar early in the morning, or sharing stories at special wine events. The Design & people who participate in the management and care of the AL complex has invited the people dwelling there to feel & experience their residence as a next chapter, with true possibilities for growth, not an ending. The staff are warm, friendly, responsible and responsive. There is a difference between enfeebling and helping. The staff at the Esther, clearly help when needed, facilitate when appropriate, & step back and enjoy (even participate) in the synergy when that is happening all on its own. On a personal level my mother was in very fragile condition, having many critical (Traumatic) symptoms occurring with a dementia diagnosis, the Nursing Management and Executive Director implemented a care plan, having to do with predicting the needs, verses reacting to crisis's, in real time, which has stabilized her life & made all the difference. She is now thriving. She feels safe, heard, taken care of, is sleeping well, symptoms managed, and is now even participating in art classes. Her symptoms & suffering from dementia have improved dramatically with the right care. With continued physical therapy, who knows what is possible! There are a variety of people living there; From the most active healthy individual (s) to the person who needs 24 hour care, the Esther is a pretty incredible place to live or to provide a home for a parent (s) with high needs. I can't say enough good about this group and location.

The Esther has a motto -- The Esther Difference -- the difference between the Esther and other communities in the area, is the energy, kindess, warmth, hospitality, and cleanliness. Anyways, the Esther difference is about doing it differently, obviously, and doing it right. Leaving behind bad habits and creating good ones, the CRD there preaches this a lot, and demonstrates it beautifully everyday! I am more than proud to work at the Esther, and know all the people who live and work there. <3

I was fighting illness and my inability to make a decision about where to go. I moved into one facility, and had to look elsewhere after a surprise month in the hospital. My family and friends took over the search for a home and I moved into The Rawlin, a memory care facility. The several months I spent there got me to feeling better and my s/o visited and walked across the parking lot to check out The Esther. She said it looked good to her. The move came shortly thereafter. I felt comfortable just walking into The Esther, found a room to my liking, and moved in. It was early in the operating life of the facility, and there were bumps in the road. But issues were resolved. One day I felt ill. The staff brought in the EMT's and it was decided I needed the hospital. That night a emergency hernia repair. The next morning, someone was hanging a poster on my wall signed by the staff wishing me well. It still hangs on my room wall, a year later, as a reminder that even in the early days, staff cared, and made sure we knew it. I do enjoy the staff, and the facility. We continue to grow as we add more folk to our group. I certainly encourage anyone considering such a facility to give The Esther a look. I'm very happy that I did.

I just recently visited my uncle at The Esther and I have never seen him as social and involved in the community as he has been since moving into the Esther. I am not too familiar with senior living and was very cautious, as I have heard so many terrifying stories on social media and from word of mouth about the experiences of folks within senior living. After seeing my uncle at the Esther, I can truly say this community has made a substantial difference in his life and he is truly living for himself again. Thank you to The Esther staff for caring for my family and reminding him that he has a lot of life to live and that living within a senior living facility doesn’t mean it is the end all be all. You all are family in my book! I am sure there will be hiccups along the road but nobody is perfect. So far, my uncle is happy and that’s all that matters to myself and to my family!

My great aunt lives here and I came to visit her and the staff was kind and welcoming. I spoke with the Nurse and she answered all of my questions in a way that made sense to me and how attentive the care staff was to the residents and visitors. Thank you so much for all they do for my family

Aging has a stigma which is hard to shake, until you are able to take advantage of The Esther and what we enjoy in our daily lives. Every meal is a social event. So good to eat with others! When needed, there are caregivers to help us in daily living. Need help with dressing? Compression socks too hard to put on? Wonderful to be able to find help. Games keep us sharp, entertainment is a great fun. Uno, Scrabble and others. We are happy to have found a place that fits our needs here at the Esther. Linda

Our experience with The Esther has been amazing from the beginning. We searched for a few years to place my mother in law in a facility that was happy, active and loving. We found it at The Esther. With the challenges that come with dementia, the staff has been so supportive and has made us feel like family. It’s been a great experience, despite having to handle all the challenges of dementia. I would highly recommend visiting The Esther to see if it would work for your family.
